Our Breeding Philosophy

We are a small cattery that is able to give each cat and kitten individualized care, love and attention. We are focused on breeding healthy, vigorous cats and kittens with exceptional temperaments as well as good looks. We work with all four colors. [seal, chocolate, lilac and blue] We go to great lengths to acquire and breed cats of high quality and are as close to the "CFA" breed standard as possible. We work hard at remaining a small cattery so as not to spoil the homey atmosphere of our cattery. This gives us the time to devote the best possible care and interactive playtime. This treatment coupled with a good diet insures us of keeping not only great body conditions but excellent personalities of our cats.

Our cats are allowed to roam freely in our home, with the exception of the studs for obvious reasons. I feel that socialization is of utmost importance, consequently all kittens are born and raised in our bedroom. They are handled by us from the minute they are born and then handled several times each day, and yes, at night too. The kittens remain in our bedroom until they have been weaned and successfully completed "potty training 101", around 4-5 weeks of age. They are then introduced to the main living area of our home, where they can explore and meet other members of our cat family. Here they also meet new people and hear all the familiar sounds of a household at work, complete with vacuum cleaner and dishwasher noises etc. When the time comes for them to be introduced to their new homes, they are completely socialized and are not traumatized by their new environment.

It is imperative for our cats to have good even temperaments. Any new cat or kitten that comes to Minghou Cattery must have come from a long line of healthy and well adjusted cats. Currently all our breeding stock have at least attained their championship status with CFA. All of our stock has been tested negative for feline leukemia and are tested frequently for internal parasites. They are all internal and external parasite free. All cats are veterinary checked annually and given their vaccinations.

All Minghou cats and kittens come with a written health guarantee. All kittens come with at least their first vaccinations and more often than not with their second vaccinations. They also come complete with a starter kit to include the food they like, kitty litter and, most importantly, a toy to take with them to their new home. All cats and kittens come with a promise to the new family that I will be available by telephone for any questions, concerns or problems that may arise.

A Siamese kitten or cat is not for everyone. They are very intelligent and vocal. They are not happy when left alone for long periods of time. Anyone who is interested in a pet kitten from us must sign a firm spay/neuter agreement if the kitten is not already altered. The kitten must always remain an indoor cat and must never be declawed.
